HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-OR-22 ORDINANCE NO. 91~-OR- ~ AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE USE OF CREDIT CARDS WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of I.C. 36-1-3-1 et. seq. commonly known as the Home Rule statutes, Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana ("the Council") may authorize by ordinance the use of credit cards by elected officials, officers, and employees of the City; and WHEREAS, the Council believes that the use of credit cards by elected officials officers and employees is necessary for the effective operation of Jeffersonville City Government. NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED that the following policy concerning the procurement and use of City of Jeffersonville credit cards is hereby adopted: 1) The Mayor (or the Deputy Mayor) is hereby authorized to procure three credit cards on behalf of the City. 2) The Mayor's office shall be the repository for all three credit cards. 3) Only the following officials may use, or authorize their employees to use, a City credit card: Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Council members, and Department Heads. 4) The Mayor's Office shall maintain a roSter reflecting the City official or employee in possession of each credit card at all times. The roster shall reflect the time and date the credit card is acquired from, and the time and date the credit card is returned to, the Mayor's Office. 5) The City official or employee using a City credit card shall promptly return it after completion of the purchase for which the card was acquired. 6) The City official or employee using the credit card shall provide the Mayor's office the credit card receipt as well as all other documentation substantiating the purchase for which the credit card was acquired. 7) The Mayor's Office shall submit a monthly claim for payment of the credit card balance with all the substantiating documents. The Clerk-Treasurer shall promptly issue payment to the credit card company after the Council's approval of the monthly claim. O0 .-I --I IT1
