Jeffersonville Wastewater Treatment Facility
Monthly Operations Report
1.0EFFLUENT QUALITY
During August, effluent quality was within NPDES permit limits for CBOD, TSS and NH-3.
Table 1.1 summarizes the effluent quality data. Attachment A contains Time Series Plots of
Carbonaceous Biochemical Oxygen Demand (CBOD) and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) values.
Attachment B contains Time Series Plots of Aeration Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids (MLSS) and
Sludge Volume Index (SVI).

2.0DESIGN LOADINGS LIMITS
The Flows and Loadings report for August 1994 through August 2006 can be found in Attachment
C.
3.0FACILITY OPERATIONS
During August, the treatment processes performed very well. All parameters were will within
IDEM limits. Average influent flow was 98.1% of plant design capacity. Removal rates for the

month were BOD removal – 97.9%, TSS removal – 96.5%, Ammonia removal – 99.5%. New
belts were ordered for both filter presses. Plant water pump was replaced.
3.1PRETREATMENT
Pretreatment activities for the month included the following:

Annual inspections were made at Altec and Brinly-Hardy.
?
Annual composite samples were taken at Pfau’s and Philadelphia Quartz.
4.0 SEWER MAINTENANCE CALLS
Table 4.1 represents all sewer maintenance calls for the month.

4.1 ELECTRICAL EXPENDITURES
Table 4.6 represents the facility electrical expenditures for the month as well as providing a year to
date total.

5.0 FACILITY SAFETY & TRAINING
A safety inspection was conducted on August 5, 2006. The rating was 95%. There were a few
minor problems and will be corrected immediately.
A copy of the Safety Inspection Report is not included, due to the untimely departure of our safety
coordinator.
6.0 SEWER COLLECTION SYSTEM AND PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
Lift stations and collection systems

Crews cleaned 7,569 ft. of sanitary sewers (34,735 ft contract YTD).
?
Crews cleaned 10,535 ft. of storm / CSO sewers (29,714 ft contract YTD).
?
Crews televised 2,543 ft. of sewer lines (6,038 ft contract YTD).
?
All 23 trouble spots were cleaned and or checked during the month.
?
Crews cleaned and vactored 0 C/B.
?
Crews conducted 3 dye tests in the collection system.
In the month of August crews made 18 sewer calls 18 being residents or other problems and 0
being city’s line.

2710 Hampton Dr. crew cleaned 35’ from M/H up residents lateral to try and help.
?
801 & 803 crews cleaned 100’ to try and help resident.
Collection crews worked with different departments of the city on various projects and a few
businesses jobs around town.
?
Crews televised 100’ in C/O of 422 Watt St. for Stemler Plumbing.

Crews worked several days in alley behind 422 Watt St. cleaned 1,550’, televised
1,630’ and did 2 dye test with the city’s digging crew and Stemlers Plumbing for
Mike L. and Jim S.

Crew did dye test on C/B on Windsor Ct. feeder to sewer city will repair, for Jim
S.
?
Crews cleaned and vactored 2,444’ of main sewer line and 4 M/H at Lentzier
Trace so a contractor could televise for Mike L.
?
Crews cleaned and vactored 70’ of storm line on Bishop Lane so city could repair,
for Jim S.
?
Crews cleaned 10’ at 1712 Herby from the residents repair out to main line for
EXCEL contracting.

Crews cleaned 200’ so crew could televise 54’ to locate tap at 204 Magnolia for
Jerry C.
?
Crews televised 100’ from C/O out to main at 2604 Bishop Lane, for Jim S.
?
Crews televised 200’ at lot 426 Idol Dice and Ole Tay Bridge to locate tap for
Jerry C.

Trouble spot list was completed 7,565’ of sewer lines cleaned and vactored.

A crew vactored out 1 wet well due to solids and the build up of grease.

Grass at the lift stations was cut as needed.

CSO gates were greased and exercised.

Crews cleaned and vactored 1,600’ on Riverside Dr. from Rocky’s to Kingfish
down Riverpointe Dr.

Crews cleaned and vactored 600’ on Magnolia Ave.

Crews cleaned and vactored 400’ on Burnside Dr.

Crews cleaned and vactored 3,600’ of the Market St. Interceptor from A.B.L.C. to
Main St.

Crews televised 298’ at 3518 Hamburg Pike to check line for damage.

Crews televised 81’ at 2710 Hampton Dr. to check lateral tap for resident.
?
Crews televised 80’ at 2717 Hampton Dr. to check lateral tap found line damaged
called Jim S. with city for repairs.

All lift stations floats, switches, pumps, alarms, electrical and mechanical
components were cleaned exercised and inspected for proper operation.

Generators at 10 St., Mill Creek and Spring St. were operated, inspected and
exercised for proper operation.
?
Crews calibrated the Amp, Voltage and Frequency Meters on the generator in the
plant.
?
Bar screens were cleaned as needed.
?
EMC bought a service agreement with Nixon Power Services to service and
evaluate all the generators in the system.
?
Crews pulled pump #2 at Mill Creek was full of rags tested put back on line.
?
Crews worked several days at the Silver Creek station because while trying to
repair a check valve while they had a pump out for repairs, the gate valve failed on
the force main side which in turn engulfed the station.

Crews installed new rebuilt pump #5 in a 10 St. tested and put on line.

Utility truck had a new starter installed and clutch adjustment.

Crew took TV van to Mt Sterling to have camera worked on.

Lawn mower had new pulley, blades, and tires.

Crew took sludge truck to Tow Zone for a tarp motor.
?
Crew installed rebuilt pump #1 at Spring St. tested and put on line.
?
Crew took dodge truck to vehicle maintenance wiring shorted out had to replace
some wiring.
