Coleman Facilities Manager KSC:dmk ,...... 1.0 EFFLUENT QUALITY During February, effluent quality was within NPDES permit limits for BOD and TSS concentrations. Table 1.1 summarizes the effluent quality data. Attachment A contains Time Series Plots of daily BOD and TSS values. During February, the treatment processes continued to perform excellent. No significant problems occurred during the month. 2.1 PRETREATMENT During February, a routine annual inspection was conducted at Profile Extrusions Inc. As part of the inspection, a composite sample of the facilities wastewater discharge was collected for analysIs. All parameters tested were within acceptable limits except for Hexavalent Chromium. MOR IEIIC~- i Representatives of Profile Extrusion were nbtified of the violation and a Notice of Violation (NOV) was issued. Profile Extrusion is required to investigate the cause of the violation, and submit a written report as to what corrective actions will be taken, to correct the exceedence. We will continue to work with all the industries, to ensure compliance with their industrial discharge permit limits. 3.0 PREVENTIVE AND UNSCHEDULED MAINTENANCE I Preventive maintenance was performed on all equipment as scheduled in February. There were 21 unscheduled maintenance tasks performed. All were minor except for: D Repair of the rake support cable at the No. 4. Clarifier. D Repair of the S02 feed line going to the chlorine contact tank. D Replacement of muffler and air brake line to Vehicle No.4, the Semi. D Repair of body damage to the 1990 Dodge D-250 Pickup. D Replacement of No. 2 pump motor at Ewing Lane Lift Station. D Repair of the sump pump and controls at Spring Street Lift Station. A list of unscheduled maintenance work orders is included as Attachment C. Maintenance and repair expenditures for the month of February are detailed in Attachment D. Table 3.1 represents the total amount expended in February, and for the year. Table 3.2 includes the same information for repair and replacement expenditures. Attachment E contains a detail of repair and replacement expenditures for the year. Attachment F details Capital Improvement expenditures in 1996. 3.3 ELECTRICAL EXPENDITURES Due to the electric bills being one month behind, table 3.4 relates to electrical expenditures from May 1995 through January 1996. The rating was 96%. The deficiencies reported were: o Proper storage of flammable liquid was not used. o Some of the walkways were obstructed. D General plant cleanliness was not being practiced. D One extension cord was being used that was in poor condition. o All personnel are not trained in CPR and First-Aid. I. , " . The deficiencies have been addressed, and all but First-Aid and CPR training has been resolved. A copy of the Safety Inspection report is inCluded as Attachment G. OnFebruary 21, 1996 Bob Tackett, EMC's Director of Safety conducted training in Combined Space Entry Procedures for all employees of the facility. This training is updated annually. 5.0 SEWER COLLECTION SYSTEM During the month there were 18 sewer calls. The following is a summary of the calls: o Six of the calls were due to blockages within the City's main lines. o Four of the calls were due to blockages within the residential line. D Three calls were due to inadequate drainage of catch basins. o One call was due to problems at one of the lift stations. o Two of the calls was due to inadequate drainage of a storm drainage line. D One call was due to a manhole cov~r being loose at the 1500 block of Lynndale. Table 5.1, on the following page, details the data on February's sewer projects.
