During August the treatment processes performed very well. The fadlity did experience several high flow events during the month. High flows result from rainfall events. The sludge settleability and Sludge Volume Indexes (SVIs) in the secondary treatment process are normal. Four new Flygt pumps have been installed at the return activated sludge station in the plant and are doing very well. 3.1 PRETREATMENT Pretreatment activities for the month of August include: There were six NOV's issued: · Wyandot Incorporated was issued three separate NOVs for Oil and Grease exceedences. All three were issued on August 28, 1998. · Industrial Water Recycling had a spill that was not reported. They were also cited for numerous complaints of malodorous gases capable of creating a public nuisance. Both NOVs were issued on August 24, 1998. · Aero Container was cited for an Oil and Grease exceedence and failure to report according to the requirements of their Industrial Discharge Permit. They were also cited for an Oil and Grease spill to which EMC personnel responded. Both NOV s were issued on August 24, 1998.
