During February the treatment processes performed well. The fac:ility did experience several high peak flows events ciuring the month. The high peak flows are a result of rainfall events during the month. The poor sludge settleability, high Sludge Volume Index's (SVI's) and foaming in the treatment process is still a concern at the wastewater treatment facility. We continue to work with the local industries tq elirl1inate th~tg}(ic ~i~c:harges, that create the high SVI's and foaming. The influent loadings at the head works of the facility are also still relatively high and are also a concern. The exc~ssiye l()aciings at the influent structure are causing an increase in sludge production and electrical consumption at the facility. Our continued efforts to reduce the influent loadings and oils and greases should help in reducing this concern. 3 .1 PRETREATMENT Pretreatment activities for the m()nthoLF~1:>,rtlary include: There were no NOV's issued for the month of February. fi Intermittent yearly industrial sampling of Philadelphia Quartz and Wyandot was performed. IWR was permitted to resume their discharge, to the city sewer system. IWR will be required to meet a 3.50 lbs of chemical oxygen demand (COD) per day and to increase theirclaily monitoring of MBAS until d~emeclntrf~s~ary by the city. An attempt to inspect Custom Plating failed due to the business doors were closed. Continued attempts resulted in the same. The Annual Report to the state was finalized and sent out on February 24, 1998. Jeffersonville Wastewater Treatment Facility Monthl 0 erations Report 4.0 PREVENTIVE AND UNSCHEDULED MAINTENANCE Preventive maintenance was performed on all equipment as scheduled in February. There were 25 unscheduled maintenance tasks performed. All were minor repairs except for: ~ Replaced belt on #2 Sludge Press. Replaced clack valve on # 1 Penn Valley pump. Replaced motor for speed control on #2 Sludge Press. I Flow meters for Return Activated ! i Sludge and Waste Line were calibrated by Tech Line Co. Started the repair of replacing the digester blower line. ~ ~ ~ ~ A list of unscheduled maintenance work orders is included as Attachment. E. Maintenance and repair expenditures for the month of February are detailed in Attachment F. Table 4.1 represents the amount expended in February.
