EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 2007-EO-003
OF THE MAYOR OF THE
CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
An Order to Rename New Albany-Charlestown Pike to Charlestown New Albany Road
WHEREAS, a request has been made to rename Charlestown-New Albany Pike,
also known as New Albany Charlestown Pike, also known as Charlestown New Albany
Road, and also known as New Albany Charlestown Road to Charlestown-New Albany
Road;
WHEREAS, pursuant to I.C. 36-7-4-405 (g) an executive acting under subsection
(e) or (f) shall name or rename streets; (1) so that their names are easy to understand; and
(2) to avoid duplication or conflict with other names;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY
OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA, THAT:
1. That Charlestown-New Albany Pike, New Albany Charlestown Pike,
Charlestown New Albany Road and New Albany Charlestown Road is
renamed Charlestown-New Albany Road.
2. This Order shall become effective April 4, 2007.
3. It is further Ordered that a Certified Copy of this Order shall be issued to
the following: (1) the Circuit Court Clerk or Board of Registration; (2) the
administrator of the enhanced emergency telephone system established
under IC 36-8-16; if any; (3) The United States Postal Service; and (4) any
person or body that the Executive consi~WfGRriate to receive notice.

This letter is to verify our request for one stand~rdized street name for the following
street nF\mes:
Charlestown New Albany Pike
New Albany Charlestown Pike
Charlestown New Albany Rd
New Albany Charlestown Rd
These street names are all listed for the same street. Property addresses in this area
reflect anyone of these names as well as street signs that are posted in the area. We
would like to request one name for this street and due to its close proximity to a street
known as Charlestown Pike, we request the name change to Charlestown New Albany
Rd. We feel this change will enhance emergency response personnel in getting to the
correct location during an emergency, and assist cell phone callers that are reporting
such events.
