Tammy has come up with an idea for a color when garden space at NOCO, but will need funding. The project is named "The Paint Box" a color theory garden. Location for garden will be alley side corner of building, there is a space that is almost a dead space that this idea will bring life too. ' Trellisis have been donated by Bob Hill and they were originally used at the Quadrangle years ago. So at this time I am asking for$1,700.00, I will be donating time, and I will manage and do all upkeep. I have included $320.00 yearly in budget for mulch and replenishment. I would like to secure funding soon to procure and store at Bob's greenhouse and start planting in April. So does anyone have any questions for me, asked Tammy. John: looks exciting, how are we going to keep people from destroying it by walking on it? Tammy: People would use this as a photo opportunity, might have to put down a rock path to keep people from trampling the flowers. Will there be information to learn about plants and what they could be used for and importance as to why they are there?Asked Denise. Sarah said, there is a book out there called Rainbow grows that could piece this together with the story trail. John; Do we have enough sun there for plants to grow? Karen states, If plants get more morning sun that is more advantageous than afternoon sun. I have spoken with Earth First and Dan Christiani and they are going to help with cost of mulch and dirt, stated Bob Hill. I love this idea I think it's delightful but do we have the money in our budget? We can push a project off from this year and complete it next year and use that money, also I am on council agenda to request additional appropriations if that goes through it would not be an issue at all, stated Emily. John: Maybe we should say Commissioners love the idea but table vote until after Council meeting. All members agreed. Old Business: Coloring Book Update: Emily I spoke with Southern Indiana Visitors Center and they would like to distribute the coloring books but they want to purchase a bulk amount. I have spoken with Denise and she said the books cost$3.00 each to print. I was thinking of telling them price to sale would be $4.00. I would like to have a table at upcoming events is $4.00 the going price?Asked John. Teah said I like $5.00 this gives us enough to cover our costs and puts some money in reserve for our next project. Denise says, I think we can sale it to Visitor's Center for$4.00 and we sell to general public for$5.00. Kofi makes motion to sale for$5.00 each,.Denise seconded motion. Bill said he thinks a little weird to sale them but will support the commission. Motion carried unanimously. Online submission portal for Story Trail Update -Emily I have been in contact with GCCS Assistant Superintendent and they have agreed to help us with this. When does submission go up? Asks Sarah.-John says, when Commissioners approve we want to have submissions by March and put up by June. All Commissioners believe this is a great idea to move forward with. Emerge Visual-Emily I like this picture it is an image of new life coming from bad. All Commissioners really believe the image shows exactly how the Commission is moving forward. New Business: Brian Sommerville Sculpture Situation This situation is unavoidable and unfortunate. Due to EPA standards we will have a sewer line come through where the Lion Statue is now, so therefore, the piece will need to be removed. I have talked with Brian , Sommerville, the Artist and he says due to the construction of the piece we will not be able to just move it so the piece will be destroyed. It is slotted to be taken down this week, the balls have been removed and will be repurposed. Susan asked, Did we know about this? There has been 10+years of discussion so we thought there would be other options, said Andy. Is there a possibility we could put a picture up in Art Center, asked Kofi. Emily said yes this is something we can make happen. Emily discusses the documentation she has come up with to help if this situation ever comes up in the future. All Commissioners looked over the document and Bill makes motion to approve policy as written, seconded by Kofi, vote taken. Motion carried unanimously. - Proposed 2021 Programming-Emily Tik Tok Competition: March, Shakespeare in the Park—April, Regional High School Art Show—May, Wayfinding event—June, Pop up Market—July, Creative Impact—August, Abbey Road and Sticky Note Sculpture—September, Steamboat Nights and digital gallery unveiling—October, Emerging Artist Show— November, Creative Impact 4—December. I love all these ideas, says John. Teah asked, Who are we targeting?
