Special Meeting
October11, 2019
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting for October 3, 2019 Fire Merit Commission was called to order by
Commissioner Spalding at 6:00 P.M.
ROLL CALL:The roll call conducted and those present were President Spalding, Commissioner Futz-
Brown, Commissioner Dyson, and Commissioner McCormick.Commissioner Smith Excused
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion to ACCEPT Agenda as present by Commissioner McCormick, seconded
by Commissioner Futz- Brown, passing on a vote 4-0.
NEW BUSINESS:
1.Zach Stewart,Attorney presented Resolution 2019-R-2 Approval of Three Additional Firefighters
contingent on approval by City Council Tax Rate and Appropriation and Salary Ordinance. Mr.Stewart
explained the previous Resolution 2019-R-that had contingency language addition and a provision that
would had prevented the hiring process start until October 21 but the City Council Suspended the
Ordinance requiring the hearing and has been passed by the City Council and Mr.Stewart will start the
hiring process if this Resolution 2019-R-2. Commissioner McCormick asked if this Resolutions is this the
replacement of 2019-R-1 achieving the same. Mr. Stewart answered no this is a replacement,as 2019-
R-1 will remain. Commissioner McCormick asked how many names are on the list. Mr. Stewart we are
down to number 14 and after that,we are on number 27 on the list. Commissioner Dyson made the
motion to APPROVE the Resolution 2019-R-2, seconded by Commissioner Futz-Brown passing on a vote
of 4-0.
ADJOURNMENT:
With no further business before the Commission, Commissioner Dyson mad the motion to ADJOURN,
seconded by Commissioner Futz Brown. Meeting adjourned at 6:06 P.M.
