Attendees: Dawn Spyker John McCarthy Susan Harrison Leslie Lewis Kofi Darku Deborah Henderson Nathan Samuel Denise Freville Paul Northam Absent: None Guests: Andy Crouch Richard Eklund Daniel Boone Michael Wimmer Old Business Approval of minutes from November 19, 2018 — Motion by Paul, 2nd by Leslie Lewis—all voted to approve 'Jeff' Sculpture- Update Dawn updated the Commission on the status of the lighting installation. It is still underway, and should be complete in the next few weeks. Sculptural Bike Rack(Update) Dawn explained that the bike rack was complete and awaiting installation. She is working with Meredith Rodriquez on the exact location. Floodwall Name(Paul) Paul brought up the naming of the floodwall. Someone asked him recently if it had a name, and he told them that it did not. Paul and Dawn spoke recently, and they suggested that the naming of the floodwall be brought to the Commission. Nathan opened the floor to suggestions. Susan suggested that it actually have the word "floodwall" in the name. Nathan asked the Commissioners to think on it until the next meeting, and it will be brought up again. Naming 2019 Dawn gave a brief summary of the past years' names, from 2015 until 2018. Dawn asked the Commission for suggestions for 2019. She provided a list of art projects planned for the upcoming year. Suggestions provided: Paul—Recognized Susan—Unfurling John - Innovating Kofi -Distinction Denise—Connecting Actualizing, blooming, blossoming, legit, explosion, and official were also offered. Dawn said that she would drop the suggestions into a SurveyMonkey and send it out to the group. New Business News from Nathan Nathan announced that The State of Indiana has recognized Jeffersonville's NoCo as an accredited, state- recognized Arts District. He congratulated Dawn and the JPAC for all of their hard work. Nathan also announced that he will not be on the Commission this upcoming year. Councilman Ed Zastawny will be replacing Nathan as the Council's representative. Commissioners' Procedures for Payments Dawn explained the procedure for Commissioners getting paid for meeting attendance in 2019. The City will need a W-9 form before any payments are made. Reflection (video) Dawn played a video for the Commission with pictures from 2018's art events and festivals. Parting Gifts Nathan and Dawn provided plaques with certificates and a photo book to the Commissioners, celebrating the 2018 Year of Public Art. Dawn also presented Nathan with a collage of canvas prints celebrating his tenure with the Arts Commission. Motion to adjourn by Paul Northam, Seconded by John McCarthy.
