Nathan Samuel called the meeting to order at 5:36 pm.

Approval of minutes from 2/12/18
Motion by Deborah Henderson, 2"d by Denise Freville—all voted to approve
Riverfront Sculpture—Illuminated piece
Sculptures will be on riverfront by Portage House.
We have received several submittals but did not receive any to what we would like to see for the area. Would
like to possibly put back out an RFP and see what we could get.
Picasso on a Pole—Field Trip —March 14, 2018 9:30 a.m. — 1:00 p.m.
Each child and adult will receive a button with design on it. Dawn still needs more adults to go on fieldtrip.
City crews will install the poles in April.
Art Scholarships-
City Council has to approve ordinance to allow arts commission to offer scholarship. The ordinance will go
before council on March 19,2018 meeting for first and second reading, has to have three reading in order to
approve.
Board will need to identify how many scholarships and what classifications.
Nathan Samuel stated JPAC is able to receive contributions for this fund however, he is not sure of the
procedure. He will follow up and get clarification.
The question was asked as if this will be only Jeffersonville schools able to apply for the scholarships, Board
believes yes at this time will only be Jeffersonville schools.
The Board hopes to have a digital submittal to apply.
Crosswalk Procedure-
Dawn stated the Gentleman that makes the stencils for crosswalks is out of Ohio. He will be making four
stencils per crosswalk. The board had discussion about what designs they would like on the crosswalks, it was
decided to get proofs for Steamboat on small stencils, and Paddle wheel and 2 stacks on big stencils.
The crosswalks will be painted with black paint by end of March, weather permitting.
Abbey Road —
Meeting was held on March 12, 2018 to add an E Stage next to Wall of Champions for this year. Stages will be
arranged different but will be located in same place as last year.
Greg Rush introduced his sculptural piece, name of piece is "All you Need Is ". Piece will
have four 8x8 panels and the community will be able to fill in the blank as to the question.
There will be a Beatles backdrop that people can stand in front of for photo.
Zephyr Maintenance—
Two art pieces are being worked on at this time and would like to them to be located by staircase at Big 4.
New Business
Sculptural Bike Racks —
This will go live March 26, 2018. Locations discussed are: Ladybug Landing, Courthouse, Connie Sellmer
Park, and Adrienne's Bakery.
JPAC can pay for 2 racks comfortably, possibly a 3rd. Racks are $3,300.00 each.
Steamboat Nights —
Event will run August 31 through September 1. There will be 21 returning artists and everything will be
illuminated.
The village will include:
Shadow puppets
Storytelling by Jeanne Burke
Blacksmiths
Chalk tunnel (thanks to Crouch family)
Lantern making and lantern parade
Community part:
Wine tent
Music
Food
Bouncy for Kids
Route for parade will be around Big 4 and possibly across the bridge but at this time just around Big 4 station.
Sugar Skull Shake Shake-
Event is scheduled for October 27, 2018. Dawn has applied for$5,000.00 grant, hopefully will hear about that
soon. Schools that will be participating in this event so far are: Parkwood, Northaven, TJ, and Jeff High.
Northaven PTO would like to provide recipes to have put in book to sale.
Aerial Mural Entries —
April 20, 2018 to be adjudicated at May's JPAC meeting
Floodwall Mural Artist(John Neal)—
Will return in April and will be here until work is finished.
Shakespeare in the Park-
This event is scheduled for May 18, 2018.
Dawn is to check with Too Tired see if they would be interested in doing popcorn and drinks for this event.
John McCarthy makes motion to pay vendor$250.00, seconded by Susan Harrison, all voted in favor.
Motion to adjourn by Deborah Henderson. Seconded by John McCarthy. Motion passed unanimously.
