Attendees: Dawn Spyker Nathan Samuel John McCarthy Deborah Henderson Susan Harrison Denise Freville Paul Northam Amber Riddings Leslie Lewis-Sheets Guests: Richard Eklund Absent: Melissa Goforth Kofi Darku Old Business Approval of minutes from 6/11/18 Motion by John McCarthy, 2nd by Denise Freville —all voted to approve Jeff Sculpture (Solar light feature) Peter Nudd Peter Nudd came to meeting to answer questions concerning the lighting for running men statues. He stated the lighting will have a battery back up system and all wiring will be buried. Q: How long will they be lit during day? A: Dusk til Dawn Q: How does the battery back up system work? A: there will be a pole behind each with a box on pole. It will show above the berm. Q: Can Andy Crouch, City Engineer come work with company to find best location for panels? A: Yes, Andy said he would love to. Q: Could Mulch be extended out to help bury wiring? A: Paul Northam stated yes that would be a possibility. Q: What is lifetime expectancy for battery and cost to replace? A: Approximately 5 to 10 years and they are $400.00 each. Q: Total Cost? A: $9960.18 Paul Northam made motion to approve contract, seconded by Susan Harrison, motion carried by a vote of 8-0. Art Scholarship Update Megan Gallagher received the scholarship and then was involved in an accident that day as well. She sent a video from her hospital bed saying Thank you for scholarship. Megan is doing fine. Call to Artists Reports (Riverfront/Bike Racks/Lightning Bug) RFP for Riverfront will go live tomorrow, July 10, 2018 and will be due July 20, 2018. RFP for bike racks was due July 6, 2018. There were 3 designs by 2 different artists submitted, after reviewing, John McCarthy said he would like to ask artist to add more lightning bugs to design#1. Design#2 was reviewed and not to the liking of Board. Design#3 was reviewed, Board believes#3 or#1 are what they are looking for. Dawn and Parks to speak with artists and use her professional judgement to determine which one will be used. Motion to approve Dawn's recommendation made by Leslie Lewis-Sheets, seconded by Denise Freville, motion approved 8-0. Aerial Mural Progress Dawn spoke with artist today, he will get frame welded before leaving for Hawaii. Project will be delayed a bit but should be completed by mid August. ACD Progress Artist Wilfred Sieg fills this will be last week of painting on water tower. Picasso install is set for July 16, 17, & 18th. Site furniture, such as trash receptacles and swing set for install July 16 & 17th, umbrellas install set for July 23rd & 24th. Celebration will be end of August. Steamboat Nights & Sugar Skull Fest(Community Engagement & Volunteer Opportunities) Dawn passed out a TO DO list for festival and will need any and all help she is able to get to make event happen. New Business Writers Needed Dawn needs commissioners help answering the ACD Accreditation questions. She would like to have multiple sessions in order to fit with everyone's schedules. Work/Writing sessions will be 7/26, 7/26, 8/7, 8/8, & 8/9. Paperwork has to be submitted by 9/6. Review Sculpture Trail Call via email on July 16th Call to go live July 23rd Commissioners' comments Nathan Samuel spoke with County Commissioners and they agreed to put the Birds bike rack put at court house up by the entry door. Also, Tim at Town of Sellersburg said they will be tearing down water tower on Holmans Lane in about 2 years and will allow an art piece or something to be placed on the land the water tower currently sits on.
