The new applicant fire fighter written test was held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at
the Jeffersonville High School cafeteria.
300 applications were picked up; 200 were returned. 155 applicants attended the
written test. 2 applicants were turned away as they arrived after the 9:00AM start
time.
All Commissioners came at various times. Mr. Frey arrived at 8:00 and was able to
get the door opened as no one from the high school was available. The fire truck
arrived around 8:30 and was parked to provide additional assistance in the location
of the test. There was no way to turn on the lights but one of the fireman was able
to use a personal device to do so. The room was warm so the doors to the main
hallway (which was cooler) were held open. After the study session, all applicants
left the room and the building and all returned at 11:45 in order to take the test.
One applicant was dyslectic and needed much of the information in the study
section and the actual test read to him—which Ms. Conen did.
The written test concluded at 1:30 after which Ms. Conen, Mr. Frey, Mr. Monohan
and Mr. Spalding assisted IPSP in packing up all materials and existed the room.
