FIRE MERIT COMMISSION
The Jeffersonville Fire Merit Commission held a Regular Meeting on Thursday,
December 7, 2017 in the first floor Conference Room, 500 Quartermaster Court,
Jeffersonville, IN.

Jeff Frey—Board Member
Bernie Horvath—Board Member
Thomas Spalding—Board Member
Nathan Masingo —Attorney
Connie Conen—Recording Secretary
GUESTS: 27 Fire Fighters
CALL TO ORDER:
Mr. Monohan called the meeting to order at 6:18PM. Ms. Conen was absent. The
minutes of the November 2, 2017 meeting were not available.
BUSINESS:
- The Chief had sent a recommendation for promotion—to be made final at the
December meeting and to be effective 1/1/2018. Mr. Monohan made the motion
to accept the recommendations for promotion—Mr. Kaskie to Captain; Mr. Routh
to Lt and Mr. Glinke to Sgt. Mr. Horvath seconded—the motion passed
unanimously.
- A discussion continued regard the idea of"Time in Rank". The Chief suggested
that it should be 4 years/Sgt; 8 years/Lt, 12 years for Capt and 16 years for Bat
Chief. He will submit his suggestions prior to the January meeting.
- Mr. Monohan asked if any of the audience would like to speak before a vote was
taken. 11 fire fighters voiced their opinions. The Commission agreed that the
issue would be tabled until the January Meeting.
