FIRE MERIT COMMISSION
The Jeffersonville Fire Merit Commission held a Regular Meeting on Thursday, July 6,
2017 in the first floor Council Chambers, 500 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, IN.

Bernie Horvath—Board Member

Connie Conen—Recording Secretary

CALL TO ORDER:
Mr. Monohan called the meeting to order at 6:02PM. All commissioners were present.
Mr. Frey made a motion to accept the minutes of the June 1, 2017 meeting; Ms. Barrow
seconded - the minutes were unanimously approved.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Mr. Hurt is reviewing candidates for a Union appointment to the Fire Merit
Commission. He verified that July 301h would be the deadline to receive resumes for
the position. He has been asked to especially look at minorities.
- Mr. Monohan stated that the Union should present any desired changes to the Policy
&Procedure manual in July/August so that the Commission can be ready to discuss
in September.
- The Chief discussed the possibility of having a job fair in March at the Ken Ellis
Center for new Fire recruits. He suggested that the requirement be changed to
accept either the diploma or transcript. He met with officials at River Ridge and feel
that they will assist with funding for additional Fire/Police employees. He plans to
have a new hire in January and the possibility of a house in 2018.

Mr. Horvath made a motion to adjourn; Ms. Barrow seconded. The meeting was
adjourned at 7
