FIRE MERIT COMMISSION
The Jeffersonville Fire Merit Commission held a Regular Meeting on Thursday, June 1,
2017 in the first floor Council Chambers, 500 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, IN.

Jeff Frey—Board Member
Bernie Horvath—Board Member
Nathan Masingo —Attorney
Connie Conen—Recording Secretary

CALL TO ORDER:
Mr. Monohan called the meeting to order at 6:OOPM. All commissioners were present.
Mr. Frey made a motion to accept the minutes of the May 4, 2017 meeting, Mr. Horvath
seconded - the minutes were unanimously approved.
NEW BUSINESS:
- A request was made by Mr. Horvath to correct the spelling of his name on the
5/4/2017 minutes from `Bermoe" to "Bernie". Ms. Conen thanked Ms. Barrow for
taking and submitting the minutes of the 5/4/2017 meeting.
- Mr. Monohan announced that the Commission had received a resignation notice
from Tom Kapfhammer. His term went through 12/2018. The Union may have a
new candidate by the July meeting.
- Mr. DeArk announced that any requested changes to the Policy and Procedures will
be submitted at the July meeting. The Department had a nice reception for new
fireman and their families. He feels that the level of candidates to become firemen is
very high. Looking at perhaps hiring 16 in both 2018 and 2019 due to retirements
and equipment. Abby Road on the River went well.
Adjournment:
Mr. Frey made a motion to adjourn; Mr. Horvath seconded. The meeting was adjourned
at 6:20.
