FIRE MERIT COMMISSION
The Jeffersonville Fire Merit Commission held a Regular Meeting on Thursday, April 6,
2017 in the first floor Council Chambers, 500 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, IN.

Jeff Frey—Board Member
Bernie Horvath—Board Member
Nathan Masingo —Attorney
Connie Conen—Recording Secretary
GUESTS: J. Hurt, R. VanGilder, B. Emerson, S. Grant,J. Ames, D. Dierking, M.
Osborne, B. DeArk and Chief Hendrick
CALL TO ORDER:
Mr. Monohan called the meeting to order at 6:OOPM. All commissioners were present.
Mr. Frey made a motion to accept the minutes of the March 2, 2017 meeting, Mr.
Kepfhammer seconded- the minutes were unanimously approved.
NEW BUSINESS:
- J. Hurt passed out a proposal for a tiered seniority system. The Union voted on the
suggested change—longevity is calculated on time in service.
- Chief Hendrick announced that 5 Firefighters were finishing their probationary term
in April. They are B. Hensen, J. Donahue, G. Popp, D. Frantz and A. Conlen.
- Discussion was held regarding the upcoming public safety needs for large events—
Thunder, Abby Road on the River and Steamboat days. Mr. DeArk is working with
the Parks Department. Clark County EMS make free runs but that may be changing.
Adjournment:
Mr. Frey made a motion to adjourn; Mr. Kepfhammer seconded. The meeting was
adjourned at 6:30.
