PUBLIC ARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES i
October 17, 2016
COMMITTEE: Present: Nathan Samuel, Dawn Spyker—JPAA, John McCarthy, Jay Ellis
STENOGRAPHER: Tammy Cordts
ABSENT: Paul Northam and Melissa Goforth
GUEST: Richard Eklund and Michael Wimmer
Meeting was called to order at 5:35 pm .
• Approval of minutes from September 12,2016
• John McCarthy made a motion to approve the minutes
s • Jay Ellis second the motion to approve the minutes 4-0
■ New Business:
k • Jeremy Jarvis submitted 2 designs for the flood wall mural of the Nachand J Field House
■ There was some discussion regarding the marquee in the picture for the flood wall
• Dawn will follow up with Jeremy and send out an email to everyone to vote
on any updates
I Jeremy will start on the wall by the next JAC meeting November 14, 2016
• Sidewalk/Bench/Art Installation Program
■ Allison Lane Sidewalk Improvement
• Public art at each location
■ Do we need to have a neighborhood meeting?
■ What size should the piece be?
I What type of supplies do we want to use for the first group of sculptures.
■ Do we want uniform bases with identical anchoring units?
p • Dawn will follow up with Andy Crouch/City Engineer as we will need input within the next 2

• Sugar Skull Cultural Event(Saturday October 22"d 9am-5pm) Big Four Park
■ 9am is registration for the Sugar Skull run
• Revisiting & Finalizing Master Plan
■ What is the focus for 2017?
■ What do we want 2017 to look like?
■ Everyone needs to be thinking about 2017 projects.

Wimmer reported that he would be responsible for arranging the move from New
Albany to Jeffersonville and that has not occurred yet.
