The Jeffersonville Fire Department Merit Commission held a Regular Meeting on
Thursday, November 1, 2012 in the First Floor City Council Room, 500 Quartermaster
Court, Jeffersonville, IN.

CALL TO ORDER:
Mr. Akermon called the meeting to order at 7:10PM — all commissioners were present.
MINUTES:
Mr. Frey made a motion to accept the minutes of the September 6, 2012 and October 4.
2012 regular meeting. Mr. Ervin seconded motion passed unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Mr. Adams noted that Mr. Grant's trial is set for November 9 at 9:30 in
Scottsburg. He also handed out the 2012 schedule of candidates for promotion.
- Mr. J. Johns hearing will be December 6, 2012 at 7:OOPM. Mr. Adams has sent
Attorney Larry Wilder a letter regarding the hearing but has not yet received a
response. Depositions have not yet been taken.
- Mr. Ervin will go over the 2012 schedule of candidates for promotion with the
Louisville Fire Group.
- Chief Hedrick stated that the rooms at Fire Headquarters will be set up for the
interviews.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Firefighter Wiesenauer asked if a promotional applicant can provide any
additional personal information when answering questions. It was stated that
most applicants never use their allotted time — and that any additional information
that an applicant can add to his /her answer is helpful. He then asked if applicants
had been told as to what to expect on the tactical question. Mr. Adams believes
that that information was made available. After the promotional process is
completed, it would be helpful to the Fire Merit Commission if applicants would
attend a meeting to voice their opinion on the questions and how the whole
process went.
- The issue of communication was brought up again. Chief Hedrick listed that the
best emails for him were: JFDcarl (/gmail.com; B. Deark — JFDcar2 @gmail.com
and J. Shepherd — JFDcar2 @gmail.com. The Union rep will contact Mr. Adams
with an appropriate email.
Upcoming meetings include:
12/6/2012 — 5:00 Executive Meeting, 1 Floor City Council Chambers
6:00 Regular Open Meeting
7:00 Mr. J. John's Hearing
ADJOURNMENT:
Ms. Barrow made a motion to adjourn; Mr. Frey seconded — motion passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40PM.
