HomeMy WebLinkAbout9-6-2012 CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT MERIT COMMISSION Thursday, September 6, 2012 6:00 PM The Jeffersonville Fire Department Merit Commission held a Regular Meeting on Thursday, September 6, 2012 in the Second Floor Conference Room, 500 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, IN. Lyn Akermon — President Bobby Ervin- Vice President — Not Present Jeff Frey — Secretary Patricia Barrow — Board Member Clark Miles — Board Member Drew Adams - Attorney Connie Conen — Recording Secretary GUESTS Chief Hedrick, Mr. DeArk CALL TO ORDER: Mr. Akermon called the meeting to order at 6:25PM, MINUTES: Mr. Frey made a motion to accept the minutes of the 8/2/2012 meeting; Ms. Barrow seconded — motion passed unanimously. OLD BUSINESS: Mr. Adams did not have an update on the on -going litigation regarding Jason Sharp. NEW BUSINESS: Ms. Barrow made a motion to accept me Akermon as the President of the Merit Commission; Mr. Frey seconded — motion passed unanimously. Mr. Adams will check the terms of all Merit Commission members. Chief Hedrick — next month he will present the probationary firefighters for their six (6) month evaluations. He will need to submit a recommendation for promotion after the one (1) year probation. The Chief then introduced the disciplinary action regarding Mr. Jones. Mr. Adams will send Mr. Johns a written notice of his rights under the Rules and Procedures. Mr. Akermon would like to set up a 2 year calendar with all the Commissioners and Chief Hedrick having access to it. Upcoming meetings include: 10/4/2012 — 3:00 - 3 Floor Building Commission Conference Room 5:00 - Executive Meeting, 3 Floor Building Commission 7:00 — Open Meeting — Mayor's Conference Room ADJOURNMENT: Ms. Barrow made a motion to adjourn; Mr. Frey seconded.
