FIRE DEPARTMENT MERIT COMMISSION

The Jeffersonville Fire Department Merit Commission held a Regular Meeting on
Thursday, June 3, 2010 in the Second Floor Conference Room, 500 Quartermaster Court,
Jeffersonville, IN. The following were present:
David Martin -President
Jeff Frey -Board Member
Lyn Ackermon -Board Member
Ron Glass -Secretary/Treasurer
Bobby Ervin-Board Member
Mary Sue Ellenbrand -Stenographer
Greg Clark -Attorney
GUESTS:
Joe Lee
Matt Thacker -Evening News Reporter
CALL TO ORDER:
Mr. Martin called the meeting to order at 6:05 PM.
MINUTES
Mr. Martin presented the minutes for the May 6, 2010 meetings. Mr. Ackermon made
a motion to approve the minutes of May 6, 2010 meeting. Mr. Ervin seconded. Motion
passed unanimously.
JOE LEE - JEFFERSONVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Mr. Lee reported that the Drug and Alcohol testing has started. Mr. Lee will send out
the promotion letters. These letters will include the schedule for interviews.
INTERVIEWS:
Mr. Clark announced that on Friday, June 11 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM the
commissioners will receive interview training. The interviews will be held on Saturday,
June 12, 2010 starting at 7:15 AM.
There were 185 applicants, 108 that took the test and 47 were interviewed.
The letters for those that did not make the interview round have been mailed.
HEARING:
The lawsuit filed by Sgt. Hammond has been settled. The hearing date of June 18,
2010 will be held until confirmation of the settlement has been received.
Mr. Ackermon made a motion to continue the hearing date of June 18, 2010 for Sgt.
Hammond's hearing until a letter is received from the attorneys that the lawsuit is
resolved.
GREG CLARK:
Mr. Clark submitted a letter of resignation to the commission. No action was taken.
ADJOURNMENT:
Mr. Martin asked if there was any additional business. Hearing none Mr. Glass made
a motion to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 PM
